Elevate your manuscript

You've worked hard on your book; take it to the next level with the help of a seasoned editor. Whether you're stuck, have been staring at your document for too long, or you're just looking for someone to check your grammar, polish your prose, or get your manuscript ready to submit to agents, your book will benefit from a second set of eyes.

Writing is hard, but finding an editor who gets your work doesn't have to be.

Hey there!

I'm Lindsey—literature lover, word nerd, and partner editor at Literary Lift Editing.

If variety is the spice of life, then my career in publishing has been well seasoned. I cut my teeth copyediting a smattering of magazines, ranging from medical journals to pop culture publications. Over the years I’ve worked in printing, made a living as a full-time staff writer, proofread children’s books, and had the pleasure of line editing a successful thriller series. Though I’ve held a wide variety of positions, my favorite place to be is the literary editor’s chair. Writing is your passion—helping authors refine their work is mine!

Regardless of your genre, subject, or publishing goals, I want you to succeed, and I’m here to help you bridge the gap between manuscript and finish line—whatever that looks like for you.

TESTIMONIALS

I hired Lindsey for a writing project and was very satisfied with the services provided. She was easy to work with, communicative, and provided edits that greatly improved the final product. I will be hiring her again in the future and would greatly recommend her services to anyone in search of an editor.

What does an editor do?

This may seem like a silly question—an editor fixes spelling errors and makes writers cry, right? Partially true (excluding the part about making writers cry). While hard error correction is a vital part of an editor's job, editing is so much more than fixing typos and punctuation.

Your editor is your most trusted literary advisor. They're your sounding board. A treasure trove of knowledge. Someone you can count on to be honest about what your project is doing well and what needs improvement. And critically, an editor is someone who believes in your work, even when you don't—especially when you don't. A good editor will polish your sentences until they shine, advocate for your readers, advocate for you, encourage you to play to your strengths as a creative, and help you realize your artistic vision, all without trampling the voice and style that make your writing unique.

Good editing is crucial to every book’s journey. If I’ve learned anything from sweating on the author’s side of the desk, it’s that quality, actionable feedback encompasses all aspects of a manuscript. Knowing what you’re doing well is just as important as knowing what needs improvement. Every editor should challenge their writers; a good one lifts them up, too.

Clients who work with me can expect:

Thorough edits, constructive feedback

All manuscripts are returned with clear and comprehensive notes throughout, not just limited to hard error corrections. Suggestions, alternatives, and acknowledgement of what you've done well are all important parts of the revision process.
